{"recordID":"289671","finds":[{"created2":"2010 02 26","description":"<p>A fragment of a copper-alloy Anglo-Saxon brooch, probably a small-long or cruciform brooch. Only the foot survives. It consists of part of the curved bow which is decorated with transverse mouldings at the top and bottom, and an incised central vertical line. Beneath this, the foot plate is sub-rectangular and tapers towards the foot. It has transverse mouldings at the top, and a raised area at the foot also decorated with transverse mouldings. The end is rounded, but may be an old break. Part of a small catchplate survives on the reverse. It has a length of 35.48mm, width 10.63mm, thickness 3.27mm, weight 3.99g. The brooch has a pale green patina and is worn. For reference see West 1998. A Corpus of Anglo Saxon Material from Suffolk p. 165 no: 11. The brooch dates from the first part of the Early Medieval period, about 400 - 600AD.<\/p>","notes":"<p>This object and the attached records were recovered from a site which may be the location of an Early Medieval moot site, though later disturbance makes the site difficult to interpret. Archaeological work including trial trenching in advance of development has not yet revealed any further evidence. Most of the finds recovered through metal detecting are Early Medieval; material of this date is rare in West Yorkshire.<\/p>","old_findID":"SWYOR-7CF1A2","id":"289671","objecttype":"brooch","classification":"small long or cruciform","subclass":null,"reuse":null,"created":"2010-02-26 13:45:37","broadperiod":"EARLY MEDIEVAL","updated":"2011-05-26 10:05:20","treasureID":null,"secwfstage":"4","secuid":"0014B87D08101638","findofnote":null,"objecttypecert":"1","datefound1":"2010-01-18","datefound2":null,"createdBy":"1040","curr_loc":null,"inscription":null,"reason":null,"subsequentAction":"Returned to finder"}],"record":[{"id":"289671","old_findID":"SWYOR-7CF1A2","uniqueID":"0014B87D08101638","objecttype":"brooch","classification":"small long or cruciform","subclass":null,"length":"35.48","height":null,"width":"10.63","thickness":"3.27","diameter":null,"quantity":"1","other_ref":null,"treasureID":null,"broadperiod":"EARLY MEDIEVAL","numdate1":"400","numdate2":"600","description":"<p>A fragment of a copper-alloy Anglo-Saxon brooch, probably a small-long or cruciform brooch.
