The head is square in section and tapers to a point. It would have had armour piercing qualities. The rest of the bolt head is circular in section and socketed. It has a length of 71.78mm, width 9.42mm, thickness 8.37mm, weight 17.36mm. For reference see Holmes 2006. Weapon: A visual history of arms and armour p. 78.
With thanks to the Royal Armouries for their identification.
","This object and the attached records were recovered from a site which may be the location of an Early Medieval moot site, though later disturbance makes the site difficult to interpret. Archaeological work including trial trenching in advance of development has not yet revealed any further evidence. Most of the finds recovered through metal detecting are Early Medieval; material of this date is rare in West Yorkshire.","","2010-02-26 13:03:33","2011-02-24 13:52:42","4","0","1","2010-01-18","","","","","1","1","1","1","3","","","","","dcrowther","David Crowther","SWYOR","dpett","Daniel Pett","Iron","","","","","","Complete","","Certain","MEDIEVAL","POST MEDIEVAL","","Metal detector",""," Royal Armouries","","Mr David Crowther","WEST YORKSHIRE","","LEEDS","","","","","SE4242","SE22NE","","","","","","Morley","From Map","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","240372","PAS_1007_bolt_head.jpg","images/dcrowther/",
