<description>
<full>A Post Medieval incomplete London Delftware (tin&#45;glazed earthenware) floor tile, blue on white design (c.1650&#45;1700). The front surface is decorated with a blue on white design with a tin glaze. The design comprises three tulips from a central stem with tendrils within a scalloped border with a foliate corner pattern. Approximately one third of the tile is broken and missing. There are patches of glaze remaining on the sides and traces of mortar on the reverse. The tile has a buff&#45;pink fabric with red grog inclusions.
Roy Stephenson notes the style of the painted decoration indicates it is London Delftware and the thickness of the tile points to a date in the second half of the 17th century.
Dimensions: length: 125.96mm; width: 82.02mm; thickness: 10.90mm; weight: 165.63g.
Identified by Roy Stephenson Medieval and Post Medieval pottery specialist.
