UNIDENTIFIED OBJECT
Unique ID: YORYM-04FE94
Object type certainty: Certain
Treasure case : 2010 T48
Silver plate fragment
Date: Undiagnostic
Description:
A rectangular strip of silver plate, of uncertain date and uncertain function.
The plate has been broken diagonally on one terminal and there is an irregular break on the other terminal. The long edges of the front of the plate are decorated with punched markings in the form of inward pointing triangles. There is no central decoration. The reverse is undecorated.
Discussion:
This object remains largely unidentifiable and undiagnostic. It was found near to Anglo-Saxon cremation objects but this is not enough evidence to justify association.
Dimensions:
Weight: 1.6g. Length: 23.1mm, 9.3mm width, 2.01mm thick
Due to the undiagnostic nature of the find it cannot be securely dated to pre-1710 and as such falls outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996.
