Post Medieval cast copper alloy mount of 16th or 17th century date. The mount is triangular with a double lobed top, making it roughly heart-shaped, or similar to fly’s wings. It has a debased acorn knop terminal at the bottom with remains of transverse incised lines. The front is slightly convex and the back flat. The reverse has two integral attachment spikes, both bent outwards at 90 degrees half way along. There are traces of tinning on the front. It is 24.3mm long, 11.2mm wide by 2.2mm thick, 7.2mm including the rivets and 2.42 grams in weight. Similar examples are recorded on the database e.g. SUSS-300755, DENO-841EC1 and ESS 7F4E73.
