The awl tapers to a point at one end and a flattened curved (spatulate) end at the other, the mid-section has a square cross-section. The spatulate end is bent to one side probably due to damage. The copper alloy has a roughened surface and a dark green patina.
Sally Worrell suggested a broad date range of Bronze Age to Roman and thought it was probably from the Iron Age – Roman period.
Dimensions: length: 75.70mm; width: 5.67mm; thickness: 5.67mm; weight: 8.43g.
