Unique ID: SWYOR-D96D43

Object type certainty: Possibly

A lead object in the shape of a triangular point. It is triangular in plan, wider at the base and tapering in to a point. It is also triangular in section. At the thicker end, there is the remains of a short projection, possibly a casting sprue. Some incisions have been made in the sides of the object but these are likely to be post depositional damage. The bottom surface of the object is very smooth and flat and the corners at the sides are very sharp, almost blade like. It has a length of 77.58mm, width 21.17mm, thickness 7.41mm, weight 46.34g. It remains uncertain what function the object was used for or where the object would have been used as no parallels have been found. However, it is possible that it is part of a lead decoration to go on the outside of a manor house. The lead is patinated, but it is unlikely to have been in the ground long, as the edges are still very well defined. A Post Medieval to modern date is suggested.
