The bezel has a beaded border and is engraved with a monogram that served as a signet. The monogram is formed of the letters b and i, the i composed of double strokes and probably signifies the initials of the original owner.*
Discussion: The finger-ring is silver and dates from the late fifteenth or early sixteenth century.

Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
