FINGER RING
Unique ID: SWYOR-BF6047
Object type certainty: Certain
A Late Medieval or Early Post Medieval finger-ring of massive proportions with fluted shoulders terminating in a circular bezel. The bezel has a beaded border and is engraved with a monogram that served as a signet. The monogram is formed of the letters "b" and "i", the "i" composed of double strokes and probably signifies the initials of the original owner.*
Discussion: The finger-ring is silver and dates from the late fifteenth or early sixteenth century.
Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
