Object type certainty: Certain

A slightly worn silver-plated copper-alloy contemporary copy of a Roman denarius of Tiberius, 'PONTIF MAXIM', 'Lyon' mint (AD 14-37; cf. R.I.C. 30; Reece issue period 1). The copper alloy can be seen in areas where the silver has flaked off. The plating on the reverse face is particluarly inconsistent around the edge. Furthermore there would appear to be a spelling error on the reverse.
