Silver finger-ring with an applied sub-square bezel cut away to form a cross with expanded arms which has been soldered on to a hoop, which is also carved into alternating diamond and square shapes.
Late Medieval; Late 15th to early 16th century.
Notes:
Description: Heavy silver ring, cast hoop with pattern of regular nicks on exterior forming squares and ellipses, flat interior. Applied bezel in the form of a four-petal motif.
Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
