{"recordID":"255588","finds":[{"created2":"2009 05 12","description":"<p>\n<\/p>\n\n<p>An incomplete Iron Age studded bronze harness fitting, broken across the perforation, possibly a strap mount. The perforation has an internal curve indicating it may have accommodated a ring rather than a stud. A small hole intruding on the upper face of the perforation suggests the harness fitting was probably miscast. The bar of the harness fitting divides decoratively to meet two knobs, which are spiked on the underside; there is also a knobbed spike at the axis of the bar with the fitting hoop. The hoop has been corroded on the inner face.<\/p><p>\n<\/p>\n\n<p>\n<\/p>\n\n<p>An object with very similar studs are illustrated in Jope (2000: pl 271g), it is from Dragonby, Lincolnshire and described as a strap-mount.  Jope states that it is unclear if these were used on horse harness, or on human equipment.<\/p><p>\n<\/p>\n\n<p>Dimensions: length: 74.60mm; width: 21.23mm; thickness: 6.13mm; thickness of spikes: 10.45mm; weight: 35.58g.<\/p><p>\n<\/p>\n\n<p>Reference: Jope, E.
