A cast copper alloy thimble of probable late Medieval to Post-Medieval date. It has straight sides and a rounded/pointed top and a slightly thickened rim that appears to be undecorated. The sides of the thimble are unevenly flattened to give an almost faceted/hexagonal appearance, probably as a result of the manufacturing process. They are covered with extensive and unevenly arranged (possibly hand-made?) circular pits that seem to spiral from the base to the shoulder of the thimble and finally to the top. The thimble measures 18.30mm in height, approximately 17.78mm in diameter in current state, weighs 6.43g and probably dates to the 15th or 16th centuries AD (see Holmes, 1991: p. 1, fig. 2b).
