FIXTURES AND FITTINGS

Unique ID: WMID1959

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Published Find published

The item has two components the lower and the upper portion. The lower portion is shaped as if a square has been folded along its diagonal at 45°. In the fold crevice there is corroded iron, which may have been a mounting point. On the outer surface of this component, along its edge are small notches at irregular intervals which appear to be decoration. The second component is placed along the apex of the fold. This is a flat semi-circular loop. It is difficult to determine whether the loop was at one time a complete loop, and has since broken, or if this is the intentional shape, particular as the terminals are the same length. The semi-circular loop is flat and follows the line of the fold. The loop has evenly spaced radiate grooves. A patina covers the whole item. On one side of the loop there is iron corrosion staining.
