UNIDENTIFIED OBJECT

Unique ID: SOM-372D02

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

Unidentified iron object. The small object is very similar to an early Roman brooch in form, with a 'T' shaped head, and curved body. However, the foot is formed where the end of the object is rolled inwards, almost in a spiral. There is no sign of a catchplate or similar. This, and the fact that the object is made from iron, suggest that it is unlikely to be a brooch of this date, despite the other similarities. However, due to heavy errosion it is difficult to see any features of the object apart from its basic form, making it difficult to identify it further. Length: 33.1mm, Width: 18.6mm. Weight: 3.5g
