Point

Unique ID: LON-A969A1

Object type certainty: Certain

A Prehistoric, probably Neolithic – Iron Age bone point (3500BC – 100AD). This point has been made from a metatarsal (hind foot) possibly from a cervid. The bone’s morphology has been used to give this point its triangular fluted cross-section. The bone was shaped using a flint tool leaving characteristic striations. It has snapped at an angle across the shaft. Alan Pipe suggests that it snapped during use rather than post deposition.
