Large silver dress-hook, trefoil shaped. Triangular backplate with pinked outline, and three applied bosses, each decorated with applied filigree and knop decoration in spirals. At the centre, attached by a dome headed pin with butterfly attachment on the back, is a small flower-shaped corolla made from silver sheet. Front gilded. On the back, rectangular bar attachment (bent) and recurving pin.
16th Century.
Notes:
A large and rather crude version of a type commonly reported through the Act: compare Treasure Annual Report 2005-6, nos. 659, 663-4.
As such, due to its age and precious metal content, this object qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
