Unique ID: SWYOR-C548D1
Object type certainty: Certain
A circular lead token. This is a biface type, baring 8 lines from the centre with unusual branches coming off them on one side, and a simple cross with a pellet at each end on the other. It has a grey patina with a slight orange hue. It measures 17.5mm x 16.9mm x 2.6mm, weighing 3.63g. This is a type 3 based on David Powell’s classification system. This class is defined as segments; containing 3 or more from centre. The “Leaden Token Telegraph, issue 6” discusses type 3 and figures 3 and 5 appear similar to this one (accessible online at www.mernick.org.uk/leadtokens/newsletters). Lead tokens have a broad date from Medieval to Post Medieval (c.1300-1850).
