Object Date: 8th-9th century Description: Hooked tag Small silver hooked tag with round head-plate and two holes, which are pierced from the back. Hook intact, but bent backwards at a sharp angle. Discussion: Hooked tags are all-purpose fasteners, used to secure small bags or purses and also clothing. They occur in various forms from the late 8th century onwards, but those with triangular head plate seem to become popular only from the 9th century. Dimensions: W 11mm; H13mm; Weight 0.5g
