Finger ring

Unique ID: DENO-E92595

Object type certainty: Certain

Gold finger-ring. Decorated with five panels depicting hands and possibly a foot and what could be a bird. Cross hatching, background of rows of bosses and dots between panels. Crown of Thorns depicted, with possible drops of blood on hands and feet. Could possibly be early 18th Century, but the crown of thorns and background decoration suggest a more likely date of 17th Century. Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.

This has been noted as an interesting find by the recorder.
