A cast copper-alloy foot of a Birdlip brooch of the late Iron Age.
The foot has a moulded disc base and forward projecting hook. The bow is cross-shaped in section, with the forward face decorated with an incised groove along the outer edges and on the top of the medial rib.
The catchplate would have been openwork, with only the base shanks remaining attached to the underside.
