Post medieval buckle; cast copper alloy, double looped ‘spectacle’ buckle of probable 16th or early 17th century date. The buckle has two oval loops of equal size with a narrowed pin bar across the middle, which is slightly recessed from the front of the buckle. There is a moulded, slightly pointed knop at either end of the pin bar. The pin is still present and is a cast copper alloy bar, rolled around the pin bar of the buckle. Length 35.9mm, width 25.9mm, thickness 2.5mm, weight 8.73g Ref: Whitehead, page 54, especially buckles 303, 304 and 307
