The axe is cast in copper alloy, but the original surface no longer survives and is heavily pitted. The axe has a thin butt, measuring 21.5mm wide and 7.1mm thick. The sides of the butt end are rounded and it is not possible to see the flanged crest. The main body of the axe tapers into the blade proper. The lower blade is asymetical and badly damaged. The blade tips are also damaged and well worn. The width of the tips measures 39mm. There is no decoration on the axe. It is probably an Aylesford type developed flat axe, dating from 2150-1500 BC.
