Romano-British/Early Saxon buckle frame of Hawkes and Dunning 1961 type IA with loop of D-sectioned pin around bar and lozengiform pellet between the jaws of the dolphins. The latter, decorated with a triplet of transverse lines and ring-and-dot eyes, have very large (incomplete) crests running from the heads around to the junctions with the bar, and emphasised by rows of multiple C-shaped stamped impressions. Apart from the damage in fresh condition. 23.5 x >25mm. Late 4th - early 5th century.
