A lead alloy musket ball. The shot is spherical. It has a diameter of 18.07mm. The ball has a very good smooth surface. It has a good patina. The colour of the ball is light brown/creamy grey. There is a big visible casting spur and possible slip. It is post medieval and probably dates from 1644. Musket balls are discussed in Courtney’s “Small Arms Accessories of the Mid-Seventeenth Century” (1988) and on page 202 of “Material Culture in London in an Age of Transition” by Geoff Egan (2005).
