Three largely intact shoe soles, all of medieval date circa early 13th - 15th Century in date. 1) 12.7g 140mm length (as bent), 47mm width of tread, 23mm width of waist, 32mm width of seat The sole is an e4 type with a pointed toe and straight medial edge to tread. The stitch holes are still visible around the edge, but some have worn though. 2) 11.9g 75mm in length, 42mm width of tread, 23mm width of waist, 28mm width of seat. The sole is an e4 type with a pointed toe and straight medial edge to tread. The stitch holes are still visible around the edge. Two cuts can also be seen in the tread. 3) 12.9g larger leather fragment, of a possible sole, the sole is a type e5 round toe. Some stitch holes are still visible around the edge. Found in association with 51g (24 fragments of leather). These fragments could be modern as the leather is laminated.

Notes:

The leather appears to have been exposed to both wet and dry conditions before it was found, giving them their curved appearance.
