Incomplete cast copper alloy double-loop asymmetrical shoe or knee buckle with a drilled frame for a separate spindle. The buckle frame is shield-shaped in plan, with a pointed knop at one edge and moulded transverse ridges at the opposite edge, where the pin now rests. The frame has a bevelled inside edge and a recessed spindle for the cast copper alloy chape and pin. The end of the chape has been cut into at right angles, creating a slot or hinge, perhaps for another attachment. Similar chapes can be seen attached to other examples of asymmetrical buckles on the database, such as SUSS-0770B6. The frame is 33 mm long, 23 mm wide and 2.5 mm thick and the chape is 20.4 mm long, 12.5 mm wide and 4.4 mm thick. The pin is 14 mm long and 3 mm thick. Whitehead (1996) illustrates a similar example on page 97, No.599, which is dated to c.1660-1720.
