Treasure Case 2006 T557
A medieval, circular brooch much distorted and abraded and lacking its pin. The frame of the brooch has two high collets set with purple stones (probably garnets) placed at opposite points. The collets are held by two arms which spring from the frame and are decorated with foliate shapes. The pin rest takes the form of a four-petalled flower. The brooch is silver gilt and dates from the fourteenth century. J P Robinson Curator of Medieval Collections 7th February 2007
