Copper-alloy stirrup-strap mount of Williams Class A, Type 11A, depicting a lion in high relief, in profile. The object is very heavily corroded and much of the original surface has been lost, therefore little detail on the lion can be seen. A small piece of the main body of the mount has broken off. The mount is basically triangular; with a pierced circular apex. The lion is enclosed in an undecorated border to either side and across the base. Along the base there are two rivet holes, no rivets survive. On the reverse there is a right-angled flange which does not run the whole width of the base. The mount is 29.3 mm wide at the base, and 47.5 mm long. It weighs 17.9g. This type of stirrup strap mount dates to the 11th century.
