The central circle bears a simple legend in 3 lines, the upper and lower lines of which curve around the arcs of the circle  The legend reads: PELSALL/*1917*/MINERS


This badge would have been worn by a miner working at the Pelsall Hall colliery, near Birmingham.  This colliery is best known for the mining disaster of 1872, in which 22 miners were drowned.</full>
