Gold posy ring from the late 16th to early 17th centuries.
Treasure find- 2007-T156. The British Museum curator report- 'Small gold finger ring, slightly out of shape. Foliate design on the external surface and inscribed inside + DON + DAMI, followed by a sprig. Very slight traces of black enamel are visible on both the inner and outer faces.'
Discussion: The style of the capital letter inscription compares well with other 16th and early 17th century rings in The British Museum's collection.
The precious metal content of this finger ring fulfils the requirements of the Treasure Act in that it is greater than 10 %.
