An incomplete copper-alloy belt mount of probable 17th or 18th century AD date. It has been suggested that these mounts may have been worn with naval uniform. For a similar example see PAS record no. BH-F68964. The piece is roughly tongue-shaped, tapering from top to bottom, with a rounded terminal. At the upper end is a flat protrusion - this is part or all of the tab which would have been bent backwards in order to secure the mount to the belt. The mount itself has moulded decoration on its upper surface. At the top, where the object is at its widest, there appears to be the head and torso of a person, facing right and possibly holding something in their hands. The lower part of the mount has further indistinguishable decoration. The reverse is plain and there is a slight hollow at the widest point. The artefact measures 45.7mm long, 9.2mm wide and 3.4mm thick. The weight is 3.37g.
