<description>
<full>Lead&#45;alloy button. The alloy may be pewter, as the edges of the button are laminating; it was probably originally circular. The relief design on the flat front is rather crudely made. It shows a profile bust of a crowned king, presumably Charles II. The top of the crown is missing, but there are two crosses on its lower half and a band of ladder pattern around the base. From the crown to the bottom of the button is a length of wavy hair; in front of this the details are harder to discern but probably include a face above a wide projecting ?arm. There is a C in front of the face and an R behind the hair; both initials sit on lines with ?pellets below. On the reverse is a stub of broken&#45;off loop. Diameter originally at least 26 mm.</full>
