An incomplete copper-alloy belt mount of probable 17th or 18th century AD date. The object has been cast as one piece and the upper end bent back on itself to form a loop which could have been attached to a belt. The upper side takes the form of an elongated tongue-shaped moulding. At the top is a raised transverse ridge and below this is a cherub-like winged head. The narrow bottom end is occupied by a smaller human head. The folded rear portion (now bent out of alignment) has a much wider irregular plate and is bordered at the top by a transverse groove. The artefact measures 48.8mm long, 15.2mm wide and 7.1mm thick. The weight is 7.72g.
