The blade fragment has a lozenge-shaped cross-section and it narrows in width from 24.79mm – 16.33mm. The fragment is very abraded and the majority of the surface is pitted and lost. The breaks have the same dark green patina as the rest of the object, suggesting the blade was broken in antiquity. There are parallels in form between these fragment and rapiers from Penard and Taunton metalwork assemblages (Rohl & Needham 1998: 129-132). References: Rohl, B. and Needham, S. 1998.
