Treasure ref. 2003 T261: a small, medieval brooch which now measures 15mm x 11mm but which would originally have been circular. It has probably be misshapen in the ground. It consists of two interlocking lions whose front paws meet at a globula, punched projection and form part of the aperture for the pin attachment. The back paws of the lions meet at the pin rest which is modelled into the grotesque head of a beast. The eyes of the lions and the beasts are deeply sunken and may once have held glass or stones. Deep cavities at either side of each lion's mouth may have been mounted in a similar way. It is executed in high relief and is an elaborate construction. The brooch is silver-gilt and dates from the thirteenth century.
