A cast copper alloy stirrup-strap mount which is a sub pentagonal in plan. The base and lower half of the sides have straight edges, whereas the upper portion sides have obliquely angled edges with a spur either side of the upper tip and at the mid corners. There are two areas of asymmetrical openwork in the body of the mount. The decoration is made of simple narrow incised lines. The overall design is not clear. At the apex there is a rivet hole and a second below which is filled with the remains of an iron rivet. There are two further rivet holes along the lower edge. However one is incomplete as the corner is missing. The break of the corner is not recent as the patina covers it. On the reverse the object is undecorated and the flat surface is interrupted by casting flaws. The lower edge has a shallow flange. The surface of the object has a brown/green coloured patina. The object may have had, relatively recently, a coating applied to it as the reverse has patches of a shiny substance. The object is stable otherwise. The mount measures 43.37mm long, 32.6mm wide and 3.82mm thick. It weighs 15.89g.
The stirrup-strap mount does not fit comfortably into one of Williams's classes. It has the size for a Class A, but the overall shape of Class C, No. 484 which also has asymmetrical openwork. The stirrup strap mount dates to the eleventh century.
