Late Medieval/early Post Medieval copper alloy and gold purse bar, 80mm long, 32mm wide and 8mm thick. The object is in fair condition with a green patina and weighs 49.08 g. The object consists of a central rectangular solid block, from the sides of which extend two sub circular arms arms with semi-spherical terminals, 15mm in diameter. Protruding from the lower edge of the block is a further smaller rectangular block which has a further bar attached to its lower edge, which has one semi-spherical terminal, C. 7mm in diameter. The centre of the upper side of the large rectangular block has a small rectangular recess, from which emerges a circular sectioned object, possibly part of a suspension loop? The surface of the object is covered in small circular depressions which are filled with gilding which are arranged in a swirling pattern. There are small traces of the same decoration on the reverse of the object as well.
