A corroded and slightly damaged copper-alloy strap-end of late Early-medieval date. The style of this piece probably derives from the Winchester style of decoration and dates from the 10th or 11th century AD. The main part of the strap-end is of a roughly-symmetrical openwork design, with two crescent-shaped holes, three projecting lobes along the bottom edge, and a horizontal ridge at the top. The attachment plate, which is located at the top, is slightly recessed, has three small circular holes and a horizontal top edge. The reverse of the piece is plain. The object measures 22.9mm wide, 24.3mm long and 2.6mm thick. The weight is 5.41g.
