a copper alloy Late Saxon stirrup strap mount. It is an example of Williams Class A type 4. It has an oval frame with a trilobate apex pierced with a single hole. It is decorated with a design which includes a central projecting 'nose' with symetrical patterns of loops and triangular panels. The base is expanded, with projecting knops on either side, and has an angled flange with a single fixing hole and rivet in situ. The remains of an iron fitting or strap are extant on the reverse of the flange.
This example most closely ressembles one illustrated in Williams 1997, no.82
