The stem from a cast copper alloy candlestick of probable late medieval or early post medieval date. The stem measures 157mm in length and 13.8mm in diameter, the socket has a diameter of 21.7mm and a thickness of 2.5mm and the object weighs 119g. The hollow cylindrical socket is decorated with two lathe-turned circumferential linear grooves close to the damaged rim, another pair midway down the socket and a single linear at the base of the socket. The integral stem has a moulded collar midway down and flares out at the end. Below this is a short narrower cylindrical section which would have connected with the missing base. A similar candlestick from Marsh Chapel, Lincolnshire, is recorded on the Portable Antiquities Scheme database (NLM-9AC567).
