Description: A silver Roman finger ring, which has a faceted hoop, with ten facets. The hoop widens towards one longer facet, which forms the bezel. There is an empty oval indentation in the centre of the bezel and the gem or setting is now missing. Discussion: Martin Henig (pers. comm 18/10/2006) has confirmed that this finger ring is of his type IX and would therefore be of third century date. A more typical octagonal faceted silver finger ring of Henig type IX has been found at Feltwell, Norfolk (Annual Treasure Report 2001, 21, fig 16, 2002 T94). Dimensions: This finger ring measures 20.83mm by 16.43mm externally and 16.70mm by 13.02mm internally. It is 7.42mm in width across the bezel, the widest point of the hoop.
