SHOT
Unique ID: NMGW123
Object type certainty: Certain
There are currently no images available.
Cast lead, or lead alloy shot. The shot retains traces of both the casting seam suggesting that it was cast in a two-part mould and the casting runner. Diameter 11.5-12mm, weight 9.8 grams.
Notes:
Shot of comparable size and weight has been identified for use with a pistol and dated to the Civil War (Courtney 1993, 159). Dating is difficult but lead shot is certainly no earlier than the sixteenth century and is possibly significantly later.
Class: Cast lead shot
