MOUNT

Unique ID: SWYOR-C5B492

Asymmetrical copper alloy fleur-like mount, probably post medieval in date. The mount is poorly finished with casting marks around the edges which have not been filed away. The front of the mount is decorated with punched dots and crescents and is shaped roughly as a fleur de lis with a small circular perforation at the apex. The mount is broken in some places and was clearly larger in form originally. The back is plain and undecorated with no indication of rivets or mounting fixtures other than the hole at the top. The tooling on the front of the piece is characteristic of later 17th century accessories but it is not a dress accessory and is more likely some sort of decorative furniture mount. The mount weighs 5.16g and measures 33.9mm in length, 31.11mm in width and 2.02mm in thickness.
