A long tapering red-granite stone of a similar shape to a mattock head, and a possible stone tool.
The stone is 342mm in length, 58mm in width, and averages 46mm in thickness. It weighs approximately 1.2kg.
One end of the stone tapers to a somewhat flattened 'chisel-shaped' terminal. The opposite end tapers to a central rounded terminal. Approximately 95mm from the rounded end is a smoothed, triangular indentation, which may be natural or shaped.
The stone could be be a tool, but there is no conclusive proof of human shaping of the stone. The strongest evidence of its use as a tool is due to its shape, and when connected to a haft, the stone would function as a mattock, hoe, or hammer/mallet.
