Cast copper alloy decorative clothes fastener. Dates to the post-medieval era 1700-1800 AD and is probably naval in association. The boss has moulded decoration and depicts the face of a lion in relief with a surrounding border divided by diagonal lines to represent a mane. At the midpoint of one side of and perpendicular to the boss is attached a small circular loop for fastening purposes. The strap loop is on the opposing side and is almost oval in form.
