The four-coil internal chord spring is made from circular-sectioned wire, as is the bow which curves strongly, but has been distorted. Tapering to missing catchplate. End of pin missing.

Notes:

This type of brooch is partially contemporary with the Nauheim brooch. These brooches may date from the middle of the 1st century BC, but due to the simplicity of form, continued in use into the second half of the 1st century A.D. The larger examples generally date to pre-conquest times.
