A complete copper-alloy sheet rivet, used to repair splits in sheet vessels. It has the characteristic uneven hexagonal outline and is folded from a cut lozenge shape. It measures 28.4mm in length and 17.2mm in width. It has a black patina due exposure to an open fire, it is therefore most likely that this rivet was used to repair a cooking vessel of some kind, which then continued to be used in an open fire. Similar folded rivets of this kind are known from Covehithe, Suffolk (see SF-B865E2) and medieval excavations in London, they were used on copper-alloy sheet vessels from the early to mid-12th century to the late 15th century (Egan 1998, 176, fig 144).
