This is a copper-alloy Roman strap-mounted terret. The terret consists of a large sub-oval loop (external diameter of 45mm) that is decorated with three projecting knops, (one on each side and one on the top edge). Each knop comprises of a quatrefoil base with a spherical knop terminal. The lower edge expands to form an integrally cast rectangular lower loop, with an internal aperture of 21mm long, 5mm deep.
