<notes>A similar but undecorated example was found at Fishbourne (Cunliffe 1971, 104 no. 38 fig. 39). Knee brooches are a Continental form, possibly originating in the Rhine area of Germany. There is a preponderance of finds in northern Britain. Enamelled examples are not particularly common. One example with two spots of red enamel inset into the bow near the head was found at Aldborough, North Yorkshire (Bishop 1996, 52 no. 309 fig. 30).</notes>
